A: Sie spielen einen Weicheier-Sport. Also nimmt sie keiner so richtig ernst. Was tun? Genau, sie greifen sich so oft es geht kräftig in den Schritt um die Positionierung von nicht vorhandenen Eiern und nicht vorhandenem Schwanz angeblich zu überprüfen und notfalls anzupassen. Im Englischen auch “rearranging your package” genannt. Dieser Männlichkeitsbeweis hat ja schon bei Michael Jackson funktioniert. Ih-Hi!

Keeper Leagues bei Fantasy Baseball sind was Schönes. Man kann über Jahre hinweg sein Team aufbauen. Oder zerstören. So war wohl mein letztjähriger Trade 3B Ryan Zimmermann für CL Francisco Cordero auf lange Sicht nicht so gut. Immerhin habe ich auch 3B Chone Figgins rausgeworfen als auch dieser nicht gut spielte. Somit habe ich wie in den letzten Jahren ein Problem auf Third Base. Zwar ist Jorge Cantu nicht schlecht und erreicht das magische Alter von 27 Jahren; mit 27 erreichen viele Baseballspieler den Höhepunkt ihrer Leistungsfähigkeit.

Dennoch, optimal ist meine Ausgangslage hier nicht. Doch es gibt einen Ausweg. Den Rookie Draft. Eigentlich betrifft er Rookies und Free Agents. Und diese Free Agents hatten es in sich. So waren sowohl Aramis Ramirez als auch Michael Young verfügbar. Also habe ich mein freigewordenes Budget auf einen relativ hohen Pick mit $28 verteilt, sowie einen Pick für $12 und einen für $4, also gerade eins unter dem Preis den Free Agent Pickups während der Saison wert sind.

Leider gab es drei Picks vor mir und Aramis Ramirez wurde mit dem ersten Pick genommen. Also kein Chicago Cub für mich, dafür 3B Michael Young. Sein Batting Average und solide HRs sollten meinem Team helfen.
Mit dem zweiten Pick gab es noch einige Optionen, allerdings muss ein Spieler mit einem Gehalt von $12 schon einiges leisten. Ich entschied mich für SP Brett Anderson, der eine sehr gute zweite Saisonhälfte 2009 absolviert hatte. Ein junger Starting Pitcher mit guten Ratios und solider Strikeout-Rate kann nie schaden.
Der letzte Pick war nicht einfach. Für $4 durfte es ein absoluter Sleeper sein, auch wenn das meistens erst für $1 genommen wird. Um mein Problem auf Third Base auch auf lange Sicht zu addressieren, entschied ich mich für 3B Pedro Alvarez. Er wird zwar 2010 in den Minor Leagues beginnen, hat aber sehr grosses Power Potenzial. Das kann mir und meinem Team nicht schaden.

Die Saison kann beginnen.
